§ 14-65. Purpose.

Latest version.
  • The City of Eaton Rapids desires to regulate the storage of motor vehicles on private property as an essential element of the well being of the community while placing no burden on the primary intended use of motor vehicles as transportation. The city deems that the storage of motor vehicles in violation of this division adversely affects the public health, safety, comfort, convenience, morals, aesthetic quality, and general welfare of the community, based upon a factual finding that the outside storage of dismantled, inoperable, and/or unregistered motor vehicles frequently results in the following conditions: Attractive nuisances that can endanger the safety of the community's children and youth; vandalism to the motor vehicle itself as well as to other private property in the vicinity; accumulation of other junk, refuse, and trash upon the premises; detraction from the aesthetic quality of residential neighborhoods and commercial districts; encouragement of nonresidential uses of residentially zoned property.
