§ 20-1. Restrictions.

  • The following restrictions shall apply to all house trailers, house cars, busses, converted busses or boats:

    (a)

    No person shall park overnight or permit the parking overnight of any house trailer, camper trailer, house car, busses, converted bus or boat, of any description, upon any public highway, street, alley, park or other public place within the city. Except as authorized by a city issued special event permit.

    (b)

    No person shall park or permit the parking of any house trailer, house car, camper trailer, busses, converted bus or boat, of any description, for occupancy, on any private property within the city except in an authorized trailer camp duly licensed under the provisions of Act 172, Public Acts of 1970, State of Michigan, as amended. Except as authorized by a city issued special event permit.

    (c)

    No person shall park or permit the parking of any house trailer, house car, camper trailer, busses, converted bus or boat, of any description, between the established setback line and the curb line on any lot within the city.

    (d)

    No person shall remove or cause to be removed the wheels or tires from any house trailer, house car, camper trailer, busses, converted bus or boat, of any description, except for the purpose of repair, while said vehicle is on private property, nor shall any person elevate, block or stabilize any such house trailer, house car, camper trailer, busses, converted bus or boat for the purpose of creating a permanent residence.

    (e)

    Unoccupied house trailers, camper trailers, house cars, busses, converted busses, boats or any similar item any of which is in excess of thirty (30) feet in length, shall not be parked or stored in an open area for a period of more than forty-eight (48) hours, unless authorized by a city issued special event permit. Said permit shall be valid for a period not to exceed ten (10) consecutive days out of any ninety (90) days and shall be conspicuously posted in the parked or stored vehicle or boat.

    (f)

    The chief of police may authorize, in writing, exemptions from the provisions of this section in cases of emergency.
